"Malibu on Fire",  May 2014

Finished Size:  39.5 x 33.75inches

In Nov 2007, a wildfire in California’s Malibu Canyon burned a few of the out-buildings where my husband works. I decided to design a quilt for his office using two photos I blended together in Photoshop and added a filter for the abstract effect resulting in this modern whole-cloth quilt.  The binding was custom printed to match the quilt top.

During my lecture, I explain why the quilt was about 5 years in the making and how "Technology Saved my UFO".

"Springtime at my House",  May 2014

Finished Size: 11.25 x 11 inches

Living on the central coast of California you can see strawberry fields everywhere. Appropriately, I have two Strawberry trees in my backyard along with numerous pots of Geraniums. Woven raw edge strips create this lovely textured background for Springtime at my House. Silk ribbon embroidery was used for the geranium flowers and leaves of the tree. I tatted lots of rings with green variegated thread to create the leaves for the geraniums.  The final touch was a miniature of my bed quilt printed on an inkjet fabric sheet.

Springtime at my House was selected as a finalist and exhibited in the Miniature Art Quilt Category at the 2015 International Quilt Festival/Houston in the annual IQA fall Judged Show, Quilts: A World of Beauty
