Flower Power 4
20 " x 12.5"
Tatting is in the flower center.

Create a unique textured background for a small wall quilt that looks pieced but isn’t.  The technique is weaving 1-inch wide raw edge strips of fabric on the diagonal. No piecing required, thus no Y seams.

The applique is raw edge and a bit of wool batting is used for the trapunto effect in the flower, stem and leaf.

1/2 day and full day workshop options.

In class we will weave a 14" x 20" background using 3 fabrics: 2 medium/dark and 1 medium. Fabric close in value works well for the background..

Note: Weaving a quilt background is a little like making a mystery quilt.
How you think the finished piece will look and what you get can be quite different.
This is part of the fun! While many of the samples below feature applique flowers,
your finished background will speak to you about what kind of applique to use.
